Can't set an alarm for a specific date on iPhone?
Built-in apps vs CAlarm

The built-in Clock app on iPhone can't set an alarm for a specific date. If you've ever thought “I only need to wake early on that one day” or “just remind me on that date,” here's how the built-in Alarm, built-in Reminders, and CAlarm compare.

The built-in alarm can't “ring only on that specific day”

The iPhone Clock app can set a time or repeat by weekday, but it can't target a specific date like “only on 15 Apr.” You can use the built-in Reminders for a similar purpose, but reminders arrive as notifications — they stay silent in silent mode and lack the full-screen, hard-to-miss display of an alarm.

Notes on the comparison

Ring on a specific date

The built-in iPhone alarm only sets a time and can't target a specific date. The built-in Reminders app can set a date and time, but it's delivered as a notification. CAlarm lets you set both a date and a time, and is built to ring on that exact day.

Repeat by weekday

The built-in alarm supports repeating on selected weekdays. CAlarm also lets you set recurring alarms with any combination of Mon–Sun, so it works for daily routines too.

Rings on silent mode

The built-in alarm rings at the ringer and alarm volume, so it sounds even on silent. The built-in Reminders arrive as notifications, so they stay silent in silent mode. CAlarm uses Apple's AlarmKit (iOS 26) and rings at alarm volume even on silent.

Pre-alert (heads-up before)

The built-in alarm has no pre-alert to warn you before the event. CAlarm offers 9 pre-alert steps from 5 minutes to 1 week before, so you don't lose time to prepare or travel.

Full-screen on the Lock Screen

The built-in Reminders are a type of notification, so there's no full-screen Lock Screen display. CAlarm shows alarms and reminders full-screen on the Lock Screen, so you won't miss them.

Flexible snooze

CAlarm lets you pick snooze intervals from none up to 12 hours — from short anti-oversleep gaps to a later second reminder.

Templates & schedule linking

CAlarm can save recurring schedule patterns as templates and apply them to a chosen day in one tap. You can also link several alarms to a single schedule.
